Insight into the Nation's Diet
The findings of a UK dietary survey, published by the Food Standards Agency, suggest that the nation is eating less saturated fat, trans fat and added sugar than it was 10 years ago. The National Diet and Nutrition Surveyis the first comprehensive survey of people's eating patterns since 2001.

Start4Life is about starting with healthy habits so that the challenges of breaking unhealthy habits are reduced later on. Recommendations on breastfeeding, the appropriate introduction of solid foods, and active play have been translated into 6 behaviours for new parents to follow.

Making Local Food Work are rolling out their Look for Local Food' programme and need more shops in England to take part. Successful applicants would receive 1:1 dedicated adviser support to help shops maximise sales, with branding and marketing support.

The Plunkett Foundation has set up a national website and network for community-owned rural shops. Via the website, shops can: communicate with each other, share ideas and experiences and be inspired by others, learn about setting up and running a community-owned shop.
